YING'S COURSE DESIGN REFLECTION

Introduction

Propose that emotional needs should be a major consideration in space design.

Main points

1.The influence of user demand pyramid on demand, emotional value is the most important to satisfy (the importance of emotional value) The Influence of Malos Pyramid’s definition of physical and psychological needs on space design

2.In my part 1 project.This hospital it is not only about function,but also hope to provide confidence for skateboarders and sporters.How to use different elements of spaital to create unique emotion？

3.• The basic function of the public bathroom is to take a bath. I hope to make the users feel relaxed and emotional feelings in the space.How can i use materi sounds to conected with other designer work and theory.

Conclusion

The interior designer’s design of function is only the most basic function. All forms should not only follow the function, but also consider the relationship between the user’s emotion and the space. Emotion is the key factor affecting the design.

Why this location? I would say the graffiti and curves of the skatepark as well as the vibrant neighborhood atmosphere deeply attracted my attention, so I chose Skatepark as my location.

Why i choose Clinic as my pop up topic？Because when I observe the movement of skateboarders, there will be a lot of danger and the risk of falling.

Why choose this material as my design resource？ Near the skatepark. There are many constructional places.So we can easily to get that.Meanwhile,It is a great material for construction.

Why this shapes? When I was doing a manual model of the process, I felt very miserable because I couldn’t deal with the relationship between the shape of the space and the clinic.And I tried to ask myself, why is it circular? I think on the one hand I am following the circular shape of the site, hoping that the serious atmosphere of the clinic will not ruin the relaxed feeling of the skate park.So i finaly give up the line model.

Why this wrapped method? In my model on the right, I tried to use the shape of the ankle to create space, because according to research, many injuries tend to focus on the joints, and I want people to be aware of this problem.

Why individual cube? Because scaffolding is a standardized reusable product for construction, its specifications are straight line and are determined by price.Is there has advantage than other material? This material can be recycle and reuse .Meanwhile.It can be as storage of standardized.

this installation creates a place , It creates an atmosphere where everything is destroyed. How does the artist create this sense of atmosphere? It is presented by breaking many places that do not appear in daily life. Why use a large area of sand, this feeling makes me think of the feeling of the sand storm.

Why is the broken tire in the sand, is the car destroyed in the sandstorm, this is a kind of let me produce a pictorial sense of association

Entering the interior of the house, the dim red light creates a mysterious atmosphere, and the door needs to be opened by itself, which makes a strong broken sound. This sense of broken atmosphere is more obvious through sound and behavior.

This is a mass of wood frozen in burning, and time stands still in the installation, which is a connection between material transformation and time.

Everything in the house seemed to make sense in the atmosphere of world destruction

The human body is replaced by concrete, and the fabric covers the concrete. Why use concrete? Because this is a material that we humans have created, and humans can use it or be destroyed by it.

‘Today, designers think about how people interact over time with a product or place.’(Lupton and Lipps, 2018)，I think for my first-aid hospital pop-up, building a relationship with hurt people and pedestrians people is important. Is there happened in my design space.

The author introduce that for some people with synesthesia .their brian will conected different sense.Music can play in color, while letters can conjure sounds or textures.(Lupton and Lipps, 2018)

It is very interesting for me that different senses build up an abstract picture. For an injured skateboarder, if he has synesthesia, what kind of picture will the pain present in his vision and how will the picture be expressed? I think this is a very worthy direction of research.

I think in the stage of basic research, for my own memory of pain sensation, when I exercise and dislocate my arm, I feel that the whole world is distorted, which is to transfer the visual picture from my pain sensation, so distortion is also one of the keys to the visual part

This kind of method creates a strong comparison between stone and fabric. Familiar shapes are asymmetrical in form. The whole space is white, but different whites have different textures, reflecting the sense of layers of space.

Furniture and mirrors in the space are deconstructed and combined. I think furniture with different shapes creates interesting visual points for the space.

The space is white and the color of the clothes is black, reinforcing the visual center of the clothes within the space.

The arts exhibition is temporary.scaffolding as well.It can be found in city. This is a structural material full of potential.His flexibility and construction efficiency

The material properties of the scaffolding, and the development of the city, make an interesting connection

FOS (The spatial system) is designed with a low-cost material, scaffolding tarpaulin, which flexibility and durability allow those abandoned industrial spaces to be transformed and repurposed.

Hard and soft, rough and delicate, dark and light. The rusty scaffolding contrasts strongly with the clean fabric, while the scaffolding acts as a supporting material and the fabric acts as an envelope to create an independent space

I felt a very interesting technique is his material collection work. Why I think that is interesting due to his atmosphere. It looks like some models stand on the YSL show field. Every model has vivid expression. The designer used a special lighting system to create different shadow lights on the ground. Why did he want to make that？ I think it is useful for his stage to create a hierarchy structure.

Material

This model uses very simple materials such as newspapers. Then stick on the structure. This magazine has a different level and merge texture. This method is amazing for me.

I select the photo from Pinterest. In my perspective， These material shapes are associated with ballet curators. So maybe I can get inspiration from human behaviour or a kind of art form. It is very interesting. And This material model is related to another room theme called chinses cultural revelation. During this period. Chinese people just can see the ballet that the government permitted.

This is video room.This projector screen is used by Traditional Chinese painting paper.Why designer choose this material because the theme of the room is Cultural revolation between 1966 and 1976 in china.William.This is a way to approach traditional Chinese events.For me，when i want to illustrate some event.I can pick up some related material to use.

In the content of video.The paper is blown by the wind, and the surface of the paper has texture, and there are different colors on both sides. The whole picture presents a dynamic aesthetic feeling of the installation through the blowing of the wind.

The Italy archtect  Gaetano Pesce who is known for his colourful and tactile works with resin,this texture of chair as same as my ceramic collection，and it inspired my a lot. Maybe i can choose this material to create many colour in my design.

This sculpture use paper to create a shape that looks like a human face. I can absorb this method of reconstruction.On the other hand, this sculpture has different angels through light shadow moves

This joining method looks really interesting to me.Through that it can create very good details.

Picasso recreated a painting by deconstructing the guitar and transformed it from 2D into 3D form, which inspired me.

This is my bathroom project. Why did I choose this client？ Because in the future, my customers will surely grow old.
Therefore, my design is age-appropriate for the Ceramic Designers of the aged.

Sustainability is a significant issue around our world. Why
important？According to investigation，Global freshwater use over the long-run from 0 ㎥ in 1981 to 4 trillions ㎥ in 2020. Why is gobal freshwater being used more and more？One of the important reason is waste.

In this case study， I think my good thinking is this theme about saving water is a global issue that needs more focus. On the contrary， this investigation lacks further study about what human behaviours caused this situation. Although I get this problem that is water waste. I thought this is just my thinking， not objective dates. So in the future research，I should excavate deeply reason.

At the top of the page. This is my design sketch and A reference to the form of an ageing toilet. Why did I choose curves as my design elements？ Because for elder people， if there is no sharp wall in the bathroom. This minimizes the possibility of causing injury. Why choose this toilet？ Because this toilet can convenience my client to use.Minimize the difficulty that caused by turning around.

At the bottom of the page. It is a process It goes through different stages and eventually becomes a water source for the plant. Why designed this cycle？ Because through this design， water can be better utilised. Why does the water end up watering the plants? Because plants need water， and it is on the exterior environment. So it could be a future source of water through photosynthesis?

This is my bathroom model， Why do I design these shapes？ It is different from another normal bathroom. Because of this bathroom location is on a park in East London. So it could be a public sculpture. These curves echo the idea of age-appropriate design.

In my perspective，this shapes has strong visual.But i also need to consider this privacy of bathroom.it is also important.

In the future design，i will try to use electrified atomized glass and other technological materials, to consider the internal privacy of the project and outdoor relationship.

This is the reference project of my project design, which comes from the TAIWAN CHINPAOSAN NECROPOLIS project completed by steven holl in 2013. These methods of using interleaved protoplasm inspire me.

Firstly, I want to talk about the floor plan of the museum, when I wander into this museum, I found this museum has a lot of different circulations and symmetry. Why did John design some different routes through this method? This way can avoid congestion of the group and Let the crowd flow through the room. Why symmetry？ Symmetry implies some kind of rule. Why implies rules？If there are no rules，it will be chaotic.

Every room has a different type of skylight. Why designer did that? I think that is because there are no electrical light systems during 1700-1800. Meanwhile，this room without window，there is no natural light. Designer want to made it.

On the basement floor， as we can see there is a Grille skylight overhead. It brings the natural light from the roof. Meanwhile， this structure can provide a stable floor for people safely access it.

Through sky light be lead in.These artworks full of energy of natural.

Window be as a background of artworks on the staircase .Look like a opera stage.

There has three interesting characters i want to record.

Different curve provide work and living module

“It is a space that softly ties in various objects and scales.”For me， the different curve can provide sit and lie positions.

Integration of space

This curve design inspired me by Eliminate the boundary between facade and ceiling.

Every shape of window is different. through this design， sunlight can into the room through higher and lower windows to generate an interesting impact.
